PROFESSOR GARRY LANDRETH SCHOLARSHIP

The Hong Kong Professional Counseling and Consulting Association Limited is offering a scholarship in honouring our teacher, mentor, friend and colleague, Professor Garry Landreth, Regents Professor Emeritus in the Department of Counseling and founder of the Center for Play Therapy at the University of North Texas, to our play therapy programs to recognize his contributions to Child-Centered Play Therapy in Hong Kong.

 

The HKPCCA Scholarship Committee will select students for the Professor Garry Landreth Scholarship. General selection criteria will inform and guide all selection decisions. The scholarship criteria include application requirements, personal qualities, and commitment in professional play therapy development.

 

Selection Criteria: Personal Qualities

HKPCCA seeks applications from students who:

  • Show passion towards the needs of others through play therapy to the community

  • Respect the views, values and traditions of other individuals and cultures

  • Are willing to receive feedbacks from supervisors and peers

  • Have integrity, honesty, and a sense of fairness and justice

  • Give thoughtful consideration to their own learning

 

Selection Criteria: Application Requirements

  • Are current HKPCCA students

  • Commitment to and participation in popularizing play therapy in community services

  • The ability to take ownership and look after personal well-being

  • A personal statement in English of 1500 words which describes who you are, how and why you are interested in play therapy, and what you will do to contribute in professional play therapy development. 

 

Selection Process

All complete applications received by the due date will be screened to ensure applicants satisfy the basic eligibility criteria. Short-listed candidates will attend an interview with a Scholarship Program Panel. Final scholarship selection will be made by the HKPCCA Scholarship Committee.
